Today’s Best Band Ever™ is Otoboke Beaver. It’s a … stereotype-breaking punk from Japan?
Difficulty: Hurt me plenty
The world.
Surprisingly, not much news about Elon’s next screw up. He’s really outshining Paris Hilton. Is it some kind of competition between progeny of the rich?
The Moscovia, being true to its traditions, destroyed each and every building in a small town and are celebrating its “liberation”. In the meantime, the very same town is being surrounded by Ukrainian army.
Geohot is back with something interesting. He’s absolutely right that we have to fight for democratisation of AI. I’m quite surprised the conventional CPU producers are not adding AI-coprocessors (just like we had floating point coprocessors). In essence, GPUs are nothing but mass-parallel arithmetic devices. As opposed to Von Neumann general purpose machines.
Let’s rethink the do-not-reply@domain.com
I recently had a confirmation email from donotreply@invalidemail.com
. Smart. By all means.
But wrong at the conceptual level.
I think.
I really think you should be sending emails from inboxes that are monitored.
It’s about caring. By finishing your email with “hey, this is an automated message, but feel free to reply, and a human will get back to you” is how you show you care about the recipient of the email.
Some solve it by adding a link one can follow in the email, but that’s a half measure. That email already has all the context, replying to it should be a natural continuation of the conversation.
But no. Here’s your message. No appeal.
And it doesn’t matter whether it’s a marketing message or an automatic report from a security tool.
You’re telling something that is important to you. To somebody who you think is important to see it. Make it personal. Let them know you’re there to support them.
And people will respond in kind.
Take care and stop aggressors. Our goal should be to minimise human suffering. In case of Moscovites, they will attack again as soon as they recover. So the only meaningful peace will be one which makes sure they cannot do it again. Or any other bully for that matter.
PS. This post is still stubbornly 100% GPT-free.
Regarding AI coprocessors, what do you think of the apple neural engine? https://www.makeuseof.com/what-is-a-neural-engine-how-does-it-work/
